If a course is cancelled due to COVID, Berkeley Study Abroad (and UCEAP, if applicable) will do its best to welcome you to another course at this time. Although we hope that all the study abroad programs we provide will work as expected, health, safety and travel conditions may change, and UMD may cancel programs at any time. In addition to studying abroad courses, registering courses at UMD (for students who plan to study abroad in the fall or spring semester), Overseas Education will directly notify students of any changes in their course status and provide students with support during the course cancellation process. As students prepare for the next semester overseas, EA encourages students who have not yet been approved through the above-mentioned petition process to continue enrolling in their courses for the spring semester courses at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. By the end of the fall of 2021, the International Education Center will decide whether to open applications for the summer or fall of 2022. If applications are open before these deadlines, students should be able to apply for the 2022 program in the summer and/or fall from January to 2022. For international travel, the traveler will have to register their trip with the Enterprise Risk Management Enterprise Travel Register (ETR) where the final logistics such as travel insurance information and registration in the AlertTraveler app are provided. We recommend that all students wait for further instructions during class before leaving before planning a trip. Meanwhile, college students looking to travel and discover new perspectives should apply for a passport in advance. Rome Start students who intend to study in Rome in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 will still need to obtain a visa. Students who were admitted to the LVC Study Abroad Program in Fall 2021 will be offered priority admission to Spring 2022 or Fall 2022 programs if they wish to reapply.
Students are encouraged to schedule the Fall 2021 Overseas Semester in Rome at the JFRC, but by June 15, 2021, they will be notified of the final plans to open the campus. Students will need to make a fallback plan for the fall semester in Chicago in case they are not allowed to travel to Italy in September. If the COVID-19 crisis continues and spring study abroad schedules are changed or canceled, these students will be guaranteed spring enrollment on campus courses and will continue to pursue graduation.

Please note that IES Abroad will not reimburse students for travel arrangements should the local element of this program be suspended for the summer. While we continue to believe that studying abroad is a valuable component of the overall academic experience of students, and strive to offer it whenever possible, we also understand that students and their families will have problems.
AU Abroad is advancing courses in specific countries/regions in the fall of 2021, and is processing student applications for study abroad in the spring of 2022. Overseas education consultants are always ready to help students choose courses that meet their academic, financial and personal needs. IES Abroad currently plans to open many of our courses this fall, and we encourage students to consider transferring to another course in the fall of 2021.
As a special exception, students holding senior first semester status in Fall 2022 or Spring 2023 will be able to study abroad for one semester if it is not the last semester of enrollment. Middlebury students who voluntarily drop out of study abroad and wish to study on campus in the spring semester will be placed on a waiting list for re-enrollment for the spring semester (and J-semester, if applicable).
In mid-December, the University of Washington's overseas programs will decide whether the spring overseas programs will continue as planned, amid growing concerns over the omicron option. Overseas study at the university has been suspended as students were sent home while studying for spring 2020 programs due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. According to an email received from the Daily, Princetonians send students to these programs on Fridays. UNC Charlotte currently intends to offer personal overseas programs for Spring 2022 in countries that meet certain criteria.
